Men's Retreat

The 2011 Men's Retreat will be taking place at Judson Collins Center in Clinton, Michigan. The theme this year is "You Are Not Alone." The retreat is open to all men of the congregation. Join us in September for fellowship, meaningful conversation, and fun. Cost is $140, with scholarships available. Registration in the Social Hall after services starting in August.

Family Camp

Join dozens of other UU families for a long weekend of fun, relaxed time basking in the sun, splashing in the water or hiking through the woods. For many years, YMCA Camp Pinewood has been committed to helping families have fun. Take time to play together this summer! Individuals and families of all compositions and ages are encouraged and welcome to attend! You can enjoy sailing, swimming, hiking, moutain biking, canoeing, archery, high ropes courses, climbing walls, bonfires, sing-alongs and much, much more!

There are counselor led activities for kids, giving adults plenty of time to unwind on their own.

Goods and Services Auction

The annual goods and services auction/ all congregation party is a wonderful event and a significant fundraiser for our operating budget.. Many goods and loads of services are donated by members and friends of First UU and also by some community businesses. Anything from a week at a Michigan summer cottage to a pet sitter can be purchased either through the silent auction or the live auction. There is a different theme each year and dinner is included in the price of admission. Look for it on the congregational calendar and don't miss it! Learn more here...

Ragtime Bash

Don't miss this annual bash! Join us for an afternoon of amazing piano ragtime, jazz, and some boogie-woogie & blues thrown in for good measure. This year's lineup of top-notch performers includes veteran Detroit blues pianist Bob Seeley, Indianapolis ragtime pianist Terry Parrish, Toledo pianist "Ragtime Rick" Grafing, and UUAA's very own David Owens.

In our 38th year, we're more excited than ever to show you what's new and in store:
• See every note with our new seating plan, every seat's a great view
• Learn more about how our congregation helped bring ragtime back to the world in our new pre- concert talk for all ages, led by Linda Jones (director of the Chalice Sparks)
• Bring the whole family for 90 minutes of the area's most exciting ragtime players

Previous Klein Lectures

This annual lecture held each year in the fall is dedicated to the memory of Robert and Ruth Klein that their spirit-the spirit of peace, goodwill and justice-might flourish.
The Klein Lectureship is sponsored through memorial funds donated by friends of Robert and Ruth Klein and their children, Fred and Andrew. Donations to the Klein Memorial Lecture Fund are welcome and will enable us to continue to present these fine lectures.
