Neighbors, friends, H4H workers gathered on Aug 9, 2009 with the Hamdan family to dedicate their Good News House.
House Manager Extraordinaire, Bob Whitacre presided over the ceremony.
We began by gathering in the front yard to hear about the project and meet the family.
Reverend Gail Geisenhainer gave the house blessing, representing the 23 faith communities that join together for the Good News House project.
Connie Amick, Habitat for Humanity Family Support person introduced the Hamdan family.
The Western Wayne County quilters have made quilts for all Huron Valley Habitat for Humanity families this year.
A ribbon cutting officially opened the house.
Everyone was invited inside for delicious food and some cool punch to ease the 90 degree heat.
Food included some wonderful dishes from Jordan cooked by Nisreen Hamdan.
Mike Muha from the First UU H4H Committee got to see how some of his work turned out.
Sandy Simon from the First UU H4H Committee enjoyed talking with the Hamdan girls.
